Disrupting Barriers to Strong Instructional Scaffolding

This toolkit provides educators with practical ideas to support strong instructional scaffolding for all students.

Teachers can and should make changes to the curriculum to meet the needs of their students. But these changes too often take the form of instructional scaffolds that compromise the cognitive complexity of grade-level learning goals. This is particularly true when we assume students are not ready to engage with grade-level tasks and texts—the same mindset that can push teachers toward remediation rather than the more-effective approach of acceleration.

This toolkit offers practical ideas to for educators to make necessary adjustments to the curriculum without losing its grade-level focus, supporting strong instructional scaffolding for all students.
