The Opportunity Makers Toolkit
Resources to apply trajectory-changing practices in your school and community.
This toolkit offers a suite of resources designed to help school and community stakeholders act on the recommendations from The Opportunity Makers: How a Diverse Group of Public Schools Helps Students Catch Up—and How Far More Can.
The Opportunity Makers profiles seven public schools that are changing students’ academic trajectories. Their three focus areas—belonging, consistency, and coherence—and the practices that sustain them can be applied in any school nationwide.
We’ve developed these tools using best practices from the profiled schools. We invite you to explore the Toolkit, download and share these resources, and adapt them as needed. We recommend that school and system leaders start by taking the Baseline Assessment, which will help identify a starting place for improvement.
- Baseline Assessment: A self-assessment to analyze the strengths and needs of a school.
- Action Guides: Concrete steps to start an ongoing improvement process in each focus area.
- Tools: Best practices adapted from trajectory-changing schools and resources from TNTP.
All resources in the Opportunity Makers Toolkit are available under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial ShareAlike license. For more comprehensive support, schools can consider engaging TNTP as a thought partner.
