Versha Munshi-South

Leadership Coach, TSL Providence

she/her

Having served as a teacher, principal, and coach, Versha is an expert in adult development, leadership coaching, strategic planning, academic systems, and team management.

Versha began her career as an elementary school teacher, teaching first, second, and third grades in Montgomery County, Md., and in New York City. She then moved into an instructional coach role and later served as a principal. At TNTP, she has been on a variety of leadership development contracts working with school and district leaders, both in traditional districts and charter settings. She is also on the board of her local school district in Stamford, Conn., where she’s learning about effective school board governance and community engagement. And as a parent to two teenagers, Versha is experiencing the school system from yet another valuable perspective. Versha’s work with TSL Providence has focused on developing higher-quality leadership at Providence Public Schools; the project has built a pipeline of school leaders and redesigned the leader evaluation system so that it’s centered on student outcomes.

It’s amazing to work with so many who share my core values and purpose for this work but also bring such diverse backgrounds and perspectives. I’ve learned so much from my peers, as well as from project-managing those on my team.

The woman, likely a teacher or tutor, is smiling and pointing at a paper with a pencil while the boy, who is wearing a dark hoodie, looks intently at the work. Word flashcards are visible on a blue background in the distance.
