Richard Waitumbi

Managing Director, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

Richard is a managing director within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, leading the education and workforce vertical for the firm’s Inclusive Growth private equity strategy. He has over a decade of experience across impact investing, private equity buyout, growth equity, and management consulting. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Richard was a principal at Bain Capital, within the Double Impact Fund, where he led investments in education and workforce development. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Richard was an investment professional at New Mountain Capital. He began his career as a management consultant at Bain & Company.

Richard serves on the boards of Interplay Learning, Ignite Reading, and TNTP. Richard earned an MBA, with high distinction, from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He earned an AB, magna cum laude, in Engineering Sciences and a BE in Chemical Engineering from Dartmouth College.
