Jamila Newman
VP, Knowledge Management
As Vice President of Knowledge Management, Jamila Newman strengthens the quality of TNTP’s work in the field and drives the learning, codification, and ongoing knowledge management that supports our client-facing teams.
Prior to this role, Jamila served as a Senior Partner, leading a team of Practice Leads in codifying TNTP’s approach to its services, and developing professional learning materials and structures to ensure our consultant workforce has best-in-class skills.
Jamila also served as a Partner on the client services team, managing a portfolio of client engagements and serving as a representative to district partners and external stakeholders. Previously, Jamila was a TNTP Project Director, acting as an educational consultant to one of the largest school districts in the country. Jamila partnered with the district, which serves over one hundred thousand students, to design instructional strategies and systems in support of students’ college and career readiness goals.
Jamila is an experienced education professional with over 20 years of expertise working in and with schools and districts across the country. Prior to joining TNTP, Jamila served as Regional Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development at Lighthouse Academies, where she oversaw the implementation of the instructional program at all Northwest Indiana schools and developed a coaching model to improve teacher efficacy. In addition to Lighthouse, Jamila worked as the Senior Managing Director for Teach For America’s Houston Institute where she was responsible for managing the overall operations and outcomes of Teach For America’s oldest and largest teacher training site.
Jamila began her career in education as an elementary school teacher in the Atlanta Public School system. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern State University and completed her Early Childhood Education teacher certification program at Georgia State University.
