she/her
Crystal has over 15 years of experience in education; with expertise in English language Arts (ELA), foundational skills (K–3), and multilingual student advocacy.
Crystal is a proud National Board Certified Teacher and a K–12 reading specialist. She has served as a mentor to new teachers, a literacy coach, and a district leader. At the district level, Crystal’s work centered around the multilingual student experience; as she supported their teachers, coaches, and principals. Most of her 15-plus years in education have been spent nurturing young learners. When she herself was a young learner, as a child raised in the Bronx in a single-parent household, she was promoted through several grades without being able to read. Through the help of a dedicated teacher at a magnet school, and a lot of hard work, Crystal became a proficient reader. She went on to graduate in the top 10 of her high school class, and made it into New York University. Her lived experience is why the work she does at TNTP is so near and dear to her heart.
TNTP’s values align with my values and vision for education. When people ask me what I do, I feel confident in not only telling them that I am helping change the lives of children in America, but that I’m actually doing it.

Today, we work side-by-side with educators, system leaders, and communities across 39 states and over 6,000 districts nationwide to reach ambitious goals for student success.
Yet the possibilities we imagine push far beyond the walls of school and the education field alone. We are catalyzing a movement across sectors to create multiple pathways for young people to achieve academic, economic, and social mobility.
