Standing in Solidarity With Black Communities

Continuing-The-Mirage-Conversation

We are outraged by the senseless murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and David McAtee, which have sparked a painful new reckoning with the centuries-old legacy of racial violence and oppression at the core of American society.

Through that pain, we’re reminded that the Black professionals we have the privilege of working alongside each day have helped make TNTP the strong and trusted national organization it has become. We are proud of them and know they will continue to lead, push us forward, and make us stronger. The Black teachers, leaders, and administrators with whom we partner in communities across the country inspire us in their undying commitment to the education of all young people. And the Black students we serve are part of a generation of brilliant minds that will show our country and the world the way forward.

As we bear witness to today’s lynchings of Black men and women at the hands of white people and police, and the anti-black sentiment that continues to victimize Black families and communities, all of us—regardless of skin color—must speak up and act to stop these atrocities.

We stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, educators, families, community members, students, and all others who are taking action to force necessary conversations, expose racism and white supremacy, and demand justice.
