Scott ThompsonVP, Client Team
Scott Thompson oversees a diverse portfolio of client work, including TNTP’s teacher development strategy.
Previously, Scott served as the Deputy Chief for Innovation and Design in the Office of Instructional Practice with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). In this role, Scott led the design of LEAP, the district’s comprehensive approach to teacher professional development. He also oversaw leadership development for teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and assistant principals, data collection and program evaluation, and communications. In addition, Scott’s team managed DCPS’s teacher residency partnerships, professional development pilots including video feedback and online courses, and research collaborations. In a prior role with DCPS, Scott led the district’s teacher effectiveness work in the Office of Human Capital, designing and implementing many of the district’s key teacher quality initiatives, including the IMPACT teacher evaluation system, the LIFT teacher career ladder, the Teacher Leadership Innovation program, the Strategic School Operations initiative, and a number of innovations in teacher recruitment and selection.
Scott began his career as a middle and high school social studies teacher in New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and a Master’s in Social Policy from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
