Our people are one-of-a-kind

TNTP staff don’t leave any part of themselves at the door. We are parents, activists, world travelers, and artists. We bring with us our backgrounds, identities, and range of experience – from the boardroom to the classroom to the courtroom. While united in our mission, it’s our differences that allow us to challenge each other and blaze a trail for others to follow.

We’re wild about great teaching.

Our respect for the hard work and impact of great teaching is rooted in the classroom, where many of our staff got their start. We’re committed to elevating the profession by recognizing success and paying teachers what they’re worth. When we meet great teachers we want to shout it from the rooftops and we created the Fishman Prize to do just that.

Challenge us. Ask why—and why not. We hold fast to some firm beliefs, but doing our best takes debate, dialogue, the honest truth. We like to say and hear things straight. We’re strong enough to hear honest feedback and respectful enough to give it. We’re not big on formalities. If you’ve got a good idea, bring it to the front. We don’t like walls or boxes, even if we know we need a few to keep the roof up.
