In 2013, more than 570 teachers applied to the Fishman Prize. About 100 applicants were invited to submit teaching videos, and 20 were selected as semi-finalists for unannounced classroom observations by TNTP. Nine finalists were interviewed by an expert panel of judges, and four were named winners.
